Asian Le Mans Series: Cyndie Allemann impressed by the new Asian series

Upon the announcement of the new Asian Le Mans Series, yesterday at Le Mans, the Japan Super GT star Cyndie Allemann was immediately impressed and interested. Obviously, she sees a direct link with her career in Japan and Asia.
“I was immediately seduced by this new series and its format: three-hour races, two classes in prototypes and two classes in GT, challenging tracks, six races in Asia including one at Fuji Speedway, I like this for sure. More and more, I feel that the future of my career is in Asia: I currently live a dream experience in Super GT and my intention is to come back in this series in 2013, this is certain. Super GT is an amazing series and to participate in it gives me a lot of satisfaction, whether in terms of driving pleasure or in terms of professional achievement. I just love the ambience in my team and in the paddocks. Parallel to it, it would be super if I could complete this with a program in the Asian Le Mans Series. I think that it would be interesting for my sponsors and commercial partners in Asia and in Japan (current and future) because we could all focus on this market. To talk about it is still a bit premature, but I only see positive elements in this new opportunity.”
Having finished on the podium of her only race in the Le Mans Series as well as getting close to a podium result for her only participation in the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans, Cyndie also see in an opportunity to come back in the endurance world.
“I very much liked my experience at Le Mans in 2010, even though the whole thing ended up with an engine going up in smoke. A podium finish was very realistic. I’ve always said that I would like to try it again: the Super GT series is a good way to come back to it (after all, many Super GT drivers also do Le Mans), and this new Asian Le Mans Series could also be a way for me to come back to Le Mans. As a matter of fact, even this year, I would like to complete my Super GT program by participating in one WEC race – the one at Fuji is the most obvious since it’s a track I know well, now. For me, Super GT and endurance racing complete each others and the drivers who can compete in both are necessarily more competitive.”Related press release (downloadable .doc file):
